The health of your herd, flock or group is crucial to the success of a profitable farm and can also have great long term benefits such as staff satisfaction, public appreciation and general welfare of the animals involved. However there are many aspects which can all influence the health of an animal and often planning around the breeding season and other external influences is required. That’s why we offer tailored and unique herd and flock planning for any production system or smallholder.
These plans include
- evaluation of the biosecurity and management procedures
- assessment of the problems seen on the farm and the risks of new emerging problems
- discussion of preventative health care such as vaccination and worming procedures
- collation of the drugs used on farm especially with emphasis on maintaining good antimicrobial stewardship
- provides manageable areas and goals for improvement
In addition to aiding your planning for the next year these plans allow us to provide insight into the health concerns on the farm and documentation of these discussions can be used for accreditation schemes such as Red Tractor accreditation and provide evidence for APHA Health and Welfare pathway requirements
